Historical Context
The Van Choate Electric Car & Light company was incorporated in Maine in 1892, and was based at 53 State Street in Boston. The company was founded to manufacture dynamos, lamps and motors. They also planned to market an electric railway motor.
Company literature claimed that "the whole system Is entirely novel and stands outside of everything owned or controlled by any other company. The inventions are said to cover the Held of electrical lighting and power, and to possess some important advantages over similar apparatus of other makers."
Based on the limited amount of information available, it is doubtful they ever reached commercial success.
