Historical Context
The New Britain National Bank was organized in New Britain, Connecticut in 1860.
The bank grew over the years acquiring a number of local competitors, including the Commercial Trust Company - which failed during the great depression.
In 1987, the bank was merged into the United Bank & Trust Company, which later became part of the Fleet and BankAmerica conglomerates.
