Historical Context
The Golden Anchor Mining Company was organized in Arizona in 1906 to develop a group of three claims just north of the Sand Grass, the most easterly claim of the Tonopah Mining Company, and just east of the Midway, in Nevada's Tonopah District.
The ground was taken over in 1907 by the Tonopah Merger Company, and when a shaft was sunk to a level of 800 feet, ore was discovered.
The company was later merged with the Tonopah Extension holdings.
