Historical Context
Clinton Foods, Inc. produced a variety of food and citrus products.
The company purchased Snow Crop - a citrus concentrate company - in 1951, and later sold the Snow Crop division to Minute Maid.
The company produced and marketed Hi-C fruit drink for Niles Foster, who developed the product. The name Hi-C referred to the original drink's high vitamin content. The original Hi-C formula contained orange juice concentrate, peel oil and orange essences, sugar, water, citric acid and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Clinton's Hi-C business was also included in the Minute Maid deal.
